Student Life

One of the most important assets that Monsif International School (MIS) has is the family atmosphere that it offers. To enhance this environment, the administration encourages and plans a number of diversified activities which strengthen ties among students and between students and faculty in addition to enhancing students’ academic, cultural, national and human values which will eventually make up their personalities as adults.

Model United Nations:
Every year MIS students take part in the international Model United Nations (MUN) program which takes place at the Lebanese American University (LAU). During a period of two months, participating students attend several workshops in which they learn the arts of negotiating, public speaking, decision making, in addition to dealing with world issues. MIS students have won numerous awards including in this program over the past ten years.

Human Rights Trivia Competition:
The Human Rights Trivia is a competition which Notre Dame University - Louaize (NDU) organizes. It is designed to enrich students’ knowledge on Human Rights and make students more involved in human rights issues in Lebanon and around the world. There are usually around 25 to 30 schools from all over Lebanon participating in this competition. Four to five judges who work for national and international humanitarian organizations judge the competition and mark students’ answers. MNS has proudly won the competition in 2014, and was in second place in 2016.

Arts and Science Fair:
MIS students are constant participants in this fair. Students from both Intermediate and Secondary levels take part in Writing, Science, Painting and Drawing competitions. Our students have made great achievements in these competitions as many of them have ranked either first or among the first three for the past six years.

Charity Work:
In addition to having the motivation to win prizes and awards, our students enjoy giving without expecting anything in return. It is a yearly tradition for MIS students from all levels to plan and execute charity activities of all kinds, a few of which include donations to the Red Cross, visiting old people’s homes and orphanages making donations to Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL).

School Projects and Competitions:
Different types of projects in English, Science, Arabic, Art and other subjects are organized periodically at MIS. These projects are designed to enhance students’ knowledge, talents, team work skills, public speaking abilities in addition to boosting their confidence and self-esteem.

Athletics at Monsif National School:
At MIS, we believe in a balance between academic studies and athletic activities; thus ensuring that our students benefit from the best of both worlds. Our programs are designed to give our students the opportunity to develop fully their potential in both areas. MIS offers fitness programs, instructional and several intramural leagues. It provides the necessary leadership and support to students regardless of their skill level. Participation and fitness are the priorities. Scholastic athletics are well established at MIS. Our male and female athletes play club teams and compete at high levels of competition against schools across Lebanon.

Field Trips:
Field trips are of two kinds: educational and recreational. Educational trips are an integral part of the instructional program, and the school assumes the expenses. Recreational trips are voluntary and fares charged to pupils. In both cases, a special form is filled out and signed by parents approving participation.
